The Temporal Net (TN) connects various time branches. (Because the Cretas do not live in 4 dimensions and are not bound by a linear concept of time, it costs them nothing to travel to an alternate past or future in an arbitrary direction). This means the temporal network connects various parallel universes according to the direction that events once moved, pertinent to different scenarios.

Many scientists believe that the TN is simply a network of dimensional tunnels designed to travel around the galaxy - a kind of galactic underground. But it's not.

TN is a complex set of psychophysical constructions that were eventually used by the Cretas for anima-transference (transition from existence as a protein life form, to the existence of pure mind). The network not only transports heroes in physical space and time, (although often it does not do this at all), it creates a cast of consciousness to transition into a wave energy form. Unfortunately (or fortunately), none of the seekers (even DaTau) are yet ready for such a transition, so the network simply saves the cast, and, in the case of death, recreates it in the appropriate form - protein (for living beings) and another (for robots, cyborgs, ghosts, etc.).

By and large, clusters of the temporal network look like a set of artificially limited sections of the physical space of those planets on which active portals are located. Although most of the network is inactive now, the portal launched by Eliza in Amazonia, the portal launched by Antonio on a yet unknown planet and the portal on a desert planet launched by DaTau do remain active. However,  seekers from different planets, and from different timelines, are on the alert and open more and more new portals as time goes on.
